We Buy Used Books
Donations:
We are always happy to accept donated books; we receive wonderful stock this way every week and are grateful for your help. You may bring books in to donate any day between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.; simply leave them on the yellow desk at the buying area, or ask for help unloading your car. No processing is necessary.
Please remember that books we reject while buying stock may not be left behind, due to the expense of disposing of unwanted books.
The Book Barn Buying Policy is as follows:
We buy books for cash or store credit every (good weather) day, between eleven a.m. and six p.m.. Please please please please be aware of the weather. Our buying station is outside; if the weather is rainy or snowy please bring us no more than one bagful or boxful to sell.
Selling books for cash: Starting again on April 1, 2010, you will be able to sell books for cash as well as for store credit on every (good-weather) day of the week. No appointment in necessary. If the amount is fifteeen dollars or over we cut you a check.
Selling books for store credit:
Store credit is available seven days a week; on Thursdays and Fridays ONLY store credit is available. When we buy books for store credit we give you twenty per cent more than when we buy for cash. The credit slip is good at all three stores and does not expire. We do not keep records of the credit slips; if it lost we are not able to replace it.
We are selective in our book choices. Hardcover books begin at fifty cents, and as some books are worth more than others, we will offer more for those copies. We buy paperbacks five for a dollar, children's paperbacks six for a dollar. We do buy audio books, DVDs and VHS tapes; their purchase price varies. We are an ethical enterprise and we deal in books in a fair and professional manner.
We cannot buy everything that comes our way, simply because we can’t keep finding new places to build more shelves.
This is a list of things we do not buy:
• Book of the Month Club
• Encyclopedias
• Ex-Library Stock
• Harlequin or Regency Romances
• Magazines
• Readers Digest Condensed
• Textbooks
Where do we buy books?
All book buying is done at:

When We Buy Books?
Please remember that we do all of our book buying OUTSIDE, and unlike the US Postal Service, we do not buy in the rain, sleet, snow, etc… so in inclement weather, wait until another day, or call ahead and ask.
